Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship

CSIR will hold the Joint CSIR-UGC Test Tentatively on Sunday 17th June 2018 for determining the eligibility of the Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) NET and for determining eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the faculty of Science & Technology. The award of Junior Research Fellowship (NET) to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding admission/placement in a university/ national laboratory/ institution of higher learning and research, as applicable.

A candidate may apply either for ‘JRF-Lectureship’ OR ‘JRF’ only OR ‘Lectureship (LS)’ only. He/she may indicate his/her preference in the Online Application, as the case may be. CSIR may consider candidates for ‘JRF-Lectureship’ OR ‘JRF’ only OR ‘Lectureship (LS)’ only depending on a number of fellowships available & performance in the test, subject to the condition that they fulfill the laid down eligibility criteria. If a candidate is found to be over-age for JRF (NET) he/she will automatically be considered for Lectureship (NET) only. Candidates with M.Sc qualification OR under M.Sc Result Awaited (RA) category shall be eligible for LS subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria as laid down by the UGC.


SUBJECTS OF THE TEST


The Test will be held in the subjects as given under

  1. Chemical Sciences 
  2. Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences 
  3. Life Sciences 
  4. Mathematical Sciences 
  5. Physical Sciences

Educational Qualifications:

  • M.Sc or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/BS-4 years/BE/BTech/BPharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST, Persons with Disability (PWD) candidates.
  • B.Sc(Hons) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MS-PhD program with at least 55% marks for General (UR) and OBC candidates; 50% marks for SC/ST, Persons with disability (PWD) candidates are also eligible to apply. Candidates with bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. program within the validity period of two years. 

AGE LIMIT& RELAXATION: 

  • For JRF (NET): Maximum 28 years as on 01-01-2018 {upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability(PWD)/female applicants and 03 years in case of OBC(non -creamy layer) applicants}. 
  • For LS (NET): No upper age limit.


SYLLABUS OF THE TEST:


The Test Booklet shall be divided into three parts, (A, B & C) as per syllabus & Scheme of Exam. 

Part 'A' shall be common to all subjects. This part shall contain questions pertaining to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc. 

Part 'B' shall contain subject-related conventional Multiple Choice questions (MCQs), generally covering the Subject Marks

Part 'C' shall contain higher value questions that may test the candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be of analytical nature where a candidate is expected to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem.

How to Apply? 

CSIR UGC NET Application Form 2018 - Mode of Payment

Candidates who are ready to Apply for Joint CSIR UGC NET for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Eligibility for Lectureship (LS), the basic application process is to deposit the main Examination Fee. Fees details are given above in the article. The Payment can be made in two different modes as it given below.
Mod 1:
First, you need to download the Challan and deposit the specified fee in any of the Indian Bank branches across India.
Mod 2:
  • Pay the Fee through NEFT from any bank using the particulars given in the challan.
  • Details on payment (both modes) are to be kept safe for Applying Online and also for further use.

Here the application form is divided into nearly six sections. They are

  • Exam applied for, Subject Code, Exam Centre, etc
  • Personal Details of the Candidate
  • Mailing Address
  • Permanent Address
  • Educational details
  • Payment Details

Check the application form and enter the required details and check the enter details twice. After filling the online application, candidates should preview their entire application form and make changes if required before final submission of online application. 

No change in the particulars entered in the application form will be possible after final submission of online application and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. In the event of qualifying the JRF/LS NET exam, the certificate will be issued strictly on the basis of information provided by the candidate in his/her online application form.

  • After successful submission of ONLINE Application, an Application Number will be auto-generated.
  • The candidates are advised to preserve the Application Number for future reference and for downloading his/her e-Admit Card.
  • The candidate should also keep a print (hardcopy) of the duly filled-in application form for future use.
  • The candidate is also advised to note down his/her e-mail ID and Password for future reference.
  • A candidate should submit only one application. If a candidate submits more than one application, none of the applications of such candidate will be entertained.
  • Examination fee paid will neither be adjusted for any subsequent examination nor refunded under any circumstances
